Welcome to Movy ("we", "our", or "us"). We provide a modern mobile application engineered for movie enthusiasts, cinephiles, and casual viewers to explore cinema catalogs, track theatrical showtimes, and discover legal streaming options worldwide.

We believe that your taste in cinema is personal. Movy is built upon a Privacy-by-Design architecture: you are not required to create an account, provide your full legal name, or link social media profiles to browse movies, generate watchlists, or enjoy trivia games.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

You may interact with our app without providing identifiable personal data. If you contact our support desk via email, we collect your email address and correspondence to resolve your request.

B. Local On-Device Data

The following data is saved locally on your device via secure sandbox storage:

• Watchlists & Favorites: Titles you swipe right or mark as "Want to Watch".
• Language Preference: Your selected interface language (e.g., English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Japanese).
• Streaming Region: The country code chosen to display accurate local streaming provider badges (e.g., US, FR, GB, DE).
• Quiz Progress: High scores and Cinephile XP earned in movie trivia games.

C. Technical & Diagnostic Information

To maintain service reliability and diagnose app crashes, the app may communicate standard technical information during network requests to our metadata API:

• Device model and operating system version (e.g., iOS 18.x).
• App version identifier (e.g., Movy v1.0.0).
• Anonymized network diagnostic codes (e.g., HTTP 200, latency metrics).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the minimal information collected exclusively for:

• Rendering localized movie overviews, posters, and cast lists.
• Querying nearby theatrical showtimes according to your selected city.
• Preserving your watchlists and quiz achievements across app sessions.
• Ensuring app stability, fixing runtime regressions, and complying with Apple App Store legal guidelines.

4. Local Storage & Zero Cloud Profiling

Movy operates on a local-first storage model. When you swipe a movie or clear your image cache, those operations occur on your smartphone's internal disk. If you uninstall the app or clear its application data through iOS Settings, your saved watchlists and local preferences are permanently wiped from the device.

5. Third-Party Services & APIs

Movy integrates with certified third-party service providers to deliver rich cinema metadata:

• The Movie Database (TMDb) API: Used to query movie summaries, release dates, genre metadata, posters, and cast details. Your device communicates directly with TMDb servers under their API Terms of Service. TMDb does not receive your private identity from Movy.
• Official Cinema Booking Portals: When you tap "Book Tickets" or select a showtime format, Movy launches the certified external ticketing portal (such as AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas, Alamo Drafthouse, or BFI) via your external browser. Any purchase is governed by that cinema's respective privacy policy.
• Mapping Providers (Apple Maps / Google Maps): Tapping "Directions" sends the cinema's public address to your device's native map application. No persistent location trail is stored by Movy.

6. Tracking, Cookies & Advertising Policy

Zero Third-Party Advertising Trackers: Movy contains no advertising SDKs, no behavioral trackers (such as Meta Pixel or Google AdMob), and no data brokers. We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

7. GDPR & CCPA Rights (For EU, UK & California Residents)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you enjoy fundamental rights:

• Right of Access & Portability: Since all your data resides in local storage, you can inspect your watchlist directly within the app.
• Right to Erasure ("Right to Be Forgotten"): You can reset all app data at any time via Settings > Clear Cache, or by simply uninstalling the application.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We never discriminate against any user who exercises their statutory privacy rights.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Movy is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). If we become aware that personal data from a child has been collected, we will take immediate steps to delete that data.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements or statutory amendments. When changes occur, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be revised. Significant updates will also be highlighted in app release notes.
